Shark Vs. Train!

February 10, 2012

On Mondays, we like to ask our Facebook friends if they read a good book to a child over the weekend. It’s a great way to interact with our friends and fans – and get some new book recommendations.

Last week our friend Ben said that he and his four-year-old son Otto have been reading a picture book called Shark Vs. Train. With a name like that, we couldn’t help but check it out.

We learned that the book, which was written by Chris Barton and illustrated by Tom Lichtenheld, was a New York Times and Publisher’s Weekly bestseller and a finalist for the 2011 Children’s Choice Book Awards. Not bad!

We’re thinking about picking up a copy, but for now, we’ve been watching the trailer for Shark Vs. Train. You can watch it above. Also, you can go to the Hatchette Book Group website and vote for who you think will win the battle: Shark? Or Train?

This is one of my Kindergarten son’s all-time favorites. I’ve lost count of the number of times we’ve given this as a birthday gift along with a plastic shark and train. Love it!

Thanks for chiming in about this! We really hadn’t heard of Shark Vs. Train until recently. Now that we’ve had two glowing reviews from people in our online community, we’re going to consider adding it to our Booklist. If you haven’t had a chance, you can check out our existing list at clifonline.org/booklist. Otherwise, thanks for the tip on the combo gift of the book and a plastic shark and train!
